Concilia Tarisai Bere, is a Clinical Psychologist with 14 years work experience in mental health in Zimbabwe. She is currently a PhD student in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town and holds an MSc in Global Mental Health degree from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King's College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicines. Tarisai has spearheaded the adaptation of several psychological treatments for use in Zimbabwe. She was instrumental in the adaptation and the randomised controlled trial intervention training of the Friendship Bench Zimbabwe. She is currently a Co-I on the Impact 2016 study, senior clinical psychologist on the Tendai and African Youth in Mind projects. She serves as a lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Mental health department.
Rhulani Beji-Chauke is a PhD student at King's College London and has an MPhil in Public Mental Health from the University of Cape Town. They have worked in both research and implementation for over 8 years, often drawing from each one to strengthen the other. Rhulani worked at the Friendship Bench for 9 years and was involved in the youth Friendship Bench trial. The trial helped inform the development of the African Youth in Mind study intervention which Rhulani also worked under. Rhulani's interests lie broadly in youth mental health, and more specifically in MNS, early intervention, and community engagement.
