Welcome to our online webinar on STEMI (ST elevated myocardial infarction) management with Dr De Silva.

Dr De Silva is a highly regarded consultant interventional cardiologist practising in London who has a breadth of experience in general and interventional cardiology. Dr De Silva’s areas of expertise are in the management of coronary artery disease, chest pain, angina and heart attacks. His procedural expertise is in coronary angiography, and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI – stent implantation) specifically in high-risk and complex patient groups.  Dr De Silva uses coronary physiology and imaging modalities to guide management to optimise patients’ outcomes.

Dr De Silva undergraduate medical training was at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Medical School. Following this, he undertook general and interventional cardiology training at St. Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital's in London. He also undertook an international complex coronary fellowship at the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia. Additionally, Dr De Silva completed a PhD in coronary physiology at King’s College London.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr De Silva is actively involved in research in cardiovascular medicine. He has been appointed an honorary senior lecturer at King’s College London. His research interests include novel imaging techniques in the management of coronary artery disease and heart attacks, and the use of mechanical circulatory support in high-risk, complex patients. He has published over 50-peer reviewed articles and has contributed to several books on numerous cardiology topics. He is frequently invited to speak or be on panels discussions at conferences at both national and international levels. He is the course director for the ‘Careers in Cardiology’ and ‘Taking the first steps in clinical cardiovascular research' courses, supported by the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) and British Heart Foundation (BHF).
