This webinar, aimed at early career dentists, will provide a practical introduction to the critical appraisal of randomised controlled trials.

Aims

This webinar will discuss the principles to critically appraise randomised controlled trials with regard to evidence-based dentistry.

  • Develop effective techniques for critically appraising randomised controlled trials.
  • Gain an understanding of the important methodological and statistical techniques utilised in randomised controlled trials.

  • Dr Alice Duke BSc BChD MChD MFDS(Ed) MSc - StR in Restorative Dentistry, Aberdeen Dental Hospital and Insitite of Dentistry, StR in Restorative Dentistry with an interest in evidence-based dentistry having recently successfully passed Part A Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Critical Appraisal.

Summary

This live teaching session will provide dental professionals an in-depth overview of how to accurately appraise and interpret randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Using data-driven techniques, attendees will gain perspectives on the essential methods for accurately assessing RCTs so that they can confidently evaluate a body of evidence and make decisions that are evidence-based.
