GIMSOC would like to introduce you to a talk from Dr Jasmina Dedic-Hagan, an Australian Medic (functional and lifestyle medicine) who took an unconventional approach to her medical degree and career. She will be talking to us about both her lifestyle medicine career and her work in training doctors for the frontline in Ukraine. After growing up in Sarajevo, she knew what it was like to be brought up in a war zone. During the war in Bosnia, she was too young to help, but now as doctor she knew she could make a real difference. So when war broke out in Ukraine in February 2022, she started looking for a way to put her skills to use. She has been working with Medics4Ukraine, taking part in training 168 medics and committing to doing more, focusing the efforts on the Kherson Region. She will talk to us about how medicine works on the frontline, and what more can be done to help.

Every donation will go directly into purchasing life-saving medical equipment for Ukrainian medical professionals, and civilians caught in the conflict. At the moment the team is especially trying to urgently source TXA, a life-saving medication that stops major haemorrhages.
