Learning objectives

  1. Gain confidence in applying high-yield medical concepts to answer questions about ENT conditions in progress tests, MCQs and finals.
  2. Recognise clinical presentation and management of acute otitis media and otitis externa
  3. Interpret Rinne’s and Weber’s test results
  4. Differentiate sensorineural/conductive/mixed hearing loss on audiograms
  5. List causes of deafness and their key features (presbycusis, otosclerosis, glue ear, Meniere’s disease, noise damage, acoustic neuroma, drug ototoxicity, sudden sensorineural hearing loss)
  6. Discuss features and management of otosclerosis
  7. Discuss features, investigations and management of cholesteatoma
  8. Recognise characteristics of causes of vertigo and management (viral labyrinthitis, vestibular neuronitis, BPPV, Meniere’s disease, acoustic neuroma)
  9. Discuss features and management of Ramsay Hunt syndrome
