To learn and apply the appropriate diagnostic processes, including relevant clinical examinations and investigations, for general surgical emergencies. 3. To apply the theoretical knowledge in managing surgical emergencies by understanding the concepts of triage, prioritizing patients, making swift decisions, and stabilizing patients. 4. To identify, assess and manage different surgical site infections, understand their pathophysiology, prevention strategies and be able to differentiate between superficial, deep, and organ/space surgical site infections. 5. To gain knowledge on the importance of good communication and ethical considerations in managing surgical emergencies, ensuring informed consent, discussing prognostic outcomes and patient dignity during emergency conditions.
