Summary

Personality Disorders (PD) encompass a wide range of complex psychiatric conditions characterized by enduring patterns of behavior, cognition, and inner experience that deviate from cultural norms. Effective management requires deep understanding, multidimensional assessments, and comprehensive interventions. This needs assessment evaluates the existing clinical practices among qualified doctors with regards to Personality Disorders.

Learning objectives

Diagnostic Proficiency: By the end of this session, participants should competently utilize standardized diagnostic tools and criteria to identify and differentiate among the various types of Personality Disorders, considering patient history, presentation, and related factors. Therapeutic Intervention: Attendees will demonstrate the ability to select and implement appropriate evidence-based therapeutic modalities tailored to the specific subtype and severity of the diagnosed Personality Disorder. Interpersonal Skill Development: Participants should develop and showcase effective strategies to establish, enhance, and maintain a therapeutic alliance with patients diagnosed with Personality Disorders, even amidst potential challenges unique to these conditions. Management of Comorbidities: Attendees will adeptly recognize and respond to commonly co-occurring mental health conditions in patients with Personality Disorders, seamlessly integrating management strategies that address the comprehensive needs of the patient. Long-Term Care and Monitoring: By the end of the session, participants should competently design and execute longitudinal care plans for Personality Disorder patients, integrating periodic assessments, therapeutic modifications, and ensuring overall well-being. These objectives emphasize hands-on skills and competencies essential for the holistic and effective management of patients with Personality Disorders.
