Description

Join us for the second instalment of the GASOC Global Webinar Series!

Sustainable Medical Outreach in Guyana: cervical screening- a global health perspective.

Summary

We will be learning from Jacqui Doran, a Specialist Biomedical Scientist working in the Edinburgh Fertility Centre Assisted Conception Unit. Jacqui has worked in a range of disciplines including blood transfusion, pathology and virology. Jacqui's real job and passion is as Logistics Lead within Remote Health Outreach Guyana (RHOG). She has completed 30 trips to Guyana since 2006, working on a medical outreach team delivering a range of medical services with a focus on our cervical screen-and-treat programme. Additionally, Jacqui is involved in a growing global citizenship network within the health board of NHS Lothian in Scotland.

The event will cover how the medical outreach programme started, modalities used in-line with WHO recommendations, and the morphing of local health care with the programme's work to ensure one vision for cervical cancer screening in remote areas of the country. This promises to be truly inspiring and informative evening- not to be missed!
