BACD South West Regional Meeting (online): F-words for child development
The World Health Organisation's 2001 framework for health in it International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (known by its nickname "ICF") provides a broader and more inclusionary way of thinking that applied in all areas of health care.
In the field of childhood disability the ICF ideas have been animated by a whimsical set of 'F-words' (Family, Functioning, Fun, Friends, Fitness, and Future) - ideas that have acquired considerable update (see www.canchild.ca/f-words).
The afternoon will cover:
- What are the F-words, and why are they important?; and
- How can we apply them practically?
Prof Peter Rosenbaum and parent champion Lynda Moore will explain the expanded view of childhood disability and ways that people are using these ideas in families, in clinical programmes, in communities, and in research.
Speakers: Prof Peter Rosenbaum, Professor of Paediatrics, McMaster University Canada and Co-Founder, CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research; and Lynda Moore, parent champion and parent of Owen, Vancouver, Canada.
Facilitators: Dr Caroline Bodey, Jenny Carroll, Therese Millar, and Dr Arnab Seal.
