Summary

Chest pain is a common yet challenging presentation encountered by healthcare professionals across various specialties. A precise and swift differential diagnosis is crucial, given the myriad of potential etiologies ranging from benign to life-threatening conditions such as myocardial infarction or pulmonary embolism.

Learning objectives

Clinical Assessment Competency: By the end of this session, participants should be competent in systematically evaluating patients presenting with chest pain, utilizing effective history-taking and physical examination skills to delineate potential causes. Differential Diagnosis Proficiency: Attendees will enhance their proficiency in formulating a broad differential diagnosis for chest pain, effectively distinguishing between cardiac and non-cardiac origins, ensuring that life-threatening conditions are promptly recognized. Interpretation Mastery: Participants will master the ability to interpret essential diagnostic studies, such as ECG and chest X-ray, to substantiate their differential diagnoses and direct their clinical decision-making process.
