NUCCS are very excited to announce our first equality, diversity and inclusion talk with Miss Gillian Hardman and welcome all to attend!
A little bit of info on our speaker; Gill is an ST7 NTN in Cardiothoracic surgery in Health Education England, Northwest and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Alongside her clinical work, her areas of interest include post-graduate surgical training, surgical performance and behaviour. She has just completed the NHSBT Clinical Research Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Transplantation and is a PhD candidate at Newcastle University. In 2018 she graduated with Distinction from the University of Manchester with MSc Medical Education, with original research to understand how we should teach Human Factors and Non-Technical Skills in post graduate surgical training. She is a member of the RCSed Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons (NOTSS) faculty, a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, and is the trainee representative on the Cardiothoracic Surgical Specialty Board. Gill was elected to and sat on the RCSEd trainees committee from 2020 to 2022 and has been involved in work aimed at improving surgeon and surgical team wellbeing, as well as changing the surgical culture to increase diversity, inclusion and better support surgical training.
