Mr John Moir MBBS, FRCS, PhD is a consultant HPB transplant surgeon in Newcastle. He has a strong research interest, particularly in pancreatic cancer with over 30 publications and multiple prestigious awards like the Ronald Smith medal to his name. Furthermore, he has also been the recipient of multiple fellowships to sponsor his PhD studies.
He is very passionate about encouraging medical students to get involved in research early on in their careers. To facilitate this, he serves as the chair of North East Surgical Training Academy (NESTAC) which aims to improve research engagement by connecting students and trainees with supervising mentors.
