Learning objectives
Aim(s): This course is in-line with the 2015 Report of the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee For Sedation in Dentistry and aims to empower the Sedation team with the skills and competence to deal with medical emergencies common to dental practices including ILS and PILS (CPR), advanced airway management and the administration of first line drugs such as oxygen, adrenaline, glucose, glucagon, midazolam, aspirin and salbutamol.
Objectives: At the end of this session delegates should be able to: Identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest Recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach Undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation and simple airway manoeuvres Utilise non-technical skills to facilitate initial leadership and effective team membership
