Specialised Foundation Programme (SFP) allows UK medical graduates to complete their foundation training while having dedicated research, protected from the day-to-day clinical duties. It allows students to explore or deepen their interest in academic medicine. It can potentially open many doors to new innovations that change the medical practices both within the NHS and across the world.
SFP is currently well-known in the student community and hence, it has often been 'mystified'. It is being seen as the option for only the elite few, but good translational medicine does NOT have to be that way.
This introductory series aims to lift up the veil of mystery of this wonderful career path for students across the UK, with a special focus on the Northern Deanery. We will walk you through the setup of the initial program, to the written application process, and then further to the interview stage.
So if you have never heard of the SFP, sitting on the fence about whether to apply or not, or if you are enthusiastic about the program, we have something for everyone. Join us, for enlightening talks hosted in the next 2 months!
