Description

QUB GP Society and QUB Midwifery Society Presents...

Dear Colleague: Domestic Abuse

Join us on Wednesday 20th October at 7pm for our first "Dear Colleague” session of the academic year. For the month of October, the session will focus on an extremely important issue for all healthcare professionals – Domestic Abuse.

Healthcare Students in all years of study are welcome to join us for this multidisciplinary conversation-style event. We hope this event will allow students to explore this topic in great depth and aid them in understanding the connection between primary and secondary care. All attendees will be invited to pre-submit questions to the panel. These questions will be submitted via a Google Form - so check your emails!

Our guest speakers:

  • Prof Gerry Gormley - GP and Professor of Simulation and Clinical Skills at QUB
  • Dr Helen Reid - Academic GP with Special Interests in Women's Health/Domestic Abuse
  • Sheila Simons - Social Work manager and Chair of the SE Area Domestic & Sexual Violence and Abuse Partnership
  • Sonya McMullan - Regional Services Manager - Women's Aid
  • With Case Studies of those who have Lived Experiences of Domestic Abuse

What’s “Dear Colleague”?

Dear Colleagues is a project that has been running over the past few years by the RCGP, in order to improve communication and learning between Primary and Secondary Care. This session will be highly interactive and engaging throughout. There will be no PowerPoints or formal presentations, rather we invite attendees to submit questions to the panel leading to discussion and subsequently learning!
