Introduction:
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is an advanced x-ray technique which generates a 3D volumetric data set of the dentoalveolar region from a series of several hundred 2D projection images.
CBCT has grown exponentially since it was first introduced in the 1990s. It has applications in nearly all aspects of dentistry including endodontics, oral surgery and orthodontics and has been described as the gold standard for imaging of the oral and maxillofacial region.
The European Academy for Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology outline two levels of further education for CBCT. Level 1 (core) training to be undertaken by those prescribing/referring for CBCT examinations and level 2 (advanced) training by those reporting on CBCT.
NIMDTA are delighted to present a Level 1 Dentoalveolar CBCT Course. This course is provided in conjunction with the British Society of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology (BSDMFR).
The course will be delivered by consultants in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, with extensive knowledge and experience of CBCT. These educators will cover all aspects of clinical application of CBCT for dentistry.
The course curriculum adheres to learning outcomes established by EADMFR guidance and PHE/FGDP.
Level 1 (core) CBCT training is a mandatory requirement for all personnel involved with dental CBCT (dentists, dental nurses with a Certificate in Dental Radiography, dental hygienists and therapists).
Participants must have completed 5 hours of verifiable CPD in Radiography and Radiation Protection, in the last 5 years, prior to commencement of this course.
Once you have completed level 1 you will be eligible to complete level 2, if appropriate, which NIMDTA will be delivering in June 2025.
