Description

An interactive 45 minute session delivered by Dr Omar Janjua, an ST4 in radiology. Covering imaging technique, thoracic anatomy, common pathologies encountered as a junior doctor.

Including pitfalls in chest X-Ray interpretation and NG positioning.

Aimed at Foundation Year doctors with discussion on clinical scenarios, emphasising indications and appropriateness of requesting further imaging studies.

Summary

This 45-minute interactive teaching session is aimed at junior doctors looking to review their knowledge of chest X-Ray interpretation, including helpful tips on assessing nasogastric tube placement. Delivered by Dr Osman Janjua, Radiology Registrar (ST4). Participants will gain insight into imaging technique, common pathologies and clinical scenarios. Emphasising indications and appropriateness of requesting further imaging as well as insight into the pitfalls of chest X-Ray interpretation.

Learning objectives

1. Identify common chest X-Ray imaging techniques and techniques to optimize imaging quality. 2. Demonstrate knowledge of thoracic anatomy in relation to chest X-Ray interpretation. 3. Recognise common pathologies from chest X-Ray images. 4. Analyse potential pitfalls in chest X-Ray interpretation and NG positioning. 5. Describe the indications and appropriateness of requesting further imaging studies.
