PRASSA UK would like to welcome you to the second talk of the PRASSA UK Webinar Teaching Programme. For this, we are humbled to be joined by Mr Chris Hoo as he imparts his wisdom, and provides us with an exciting overview of, Breast surgery.
Speaker Profile
Mr Chris Hoo is an accomplished Oncoplastic Breast and Reconstructive Surgeon in the Belfast City Hospital. He qualified from Queen’s University Belfast and completed his Plastic Surgical training in Northern Ireland with specialty fellowships in Newcastle and Liverpool.
Mr Hoo is a keen educator: acting as course director for Basic Surgical Skills in Northern Ireland; examiner for QUB medical school; and teaching on pre-medical, undergraduate and post-graduate courses. In addition to this he is also responsible for restarting the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) course in Northern Ireland.
He plays an active role in medico-politics; having previously held the position of Chair of the Junior Doctors Committee, and council member of the BMA, in Northern Ireland.

- the gold standard imaging modalities, and what is involved with surgical planning of an autologous based option
- the principles of an autologous based breast reconstruction (including types of flaps used, and the microvascular reconstruction)
- the post-operative complications that may arise from autologous based breast reconstruction.
