BBASS demonstrates the principles of assisting. The first role the prospective surgeon, in theatre, is assisting. A good assistant makes a good surgeon and vice versa. How do you stand? Where to you hold? How do you hold? All will be revealed. The principles are akin to driving a car; you din not cross the midline and you anticipate the traffic and the road. A good assistant also needs to be adept at holding the basic surgical instruments, forceps and scissors. BBASS will run through the do's and don'ts and offer tips and tricks.
