This month's talk discusses antimicrobial resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

You may be aware that recently the UK Health Surveillance Agency released a statement announcing that 4 cases of an antimicrobial- resistant strain of gonorrhoea have been detected in the UK. This particular strain of ceftriaxone- resistant has not been seen in the UK for a couple of years, so this talk promises to be especially topical.

The talk is being delivered by Dr Helen Fifer- a lead in the field of gonorrhoea- and is not to be missed!

Dr Fifer is a Consultant Medical Microbiologist in the Blood Safety, Hepatitis, STI & HIV Division, UK Health Security Agency, where she leads the Gonococcal Resistance to Antimicrobials Surveillance programme (GRASP). She is the lead author of the UK Gonorrhoea treatment guideline as well as the editor for the UK Mycoplasma genitalium guideline. She is also an advisor for the Infectious Diseases in Pregnancy NHS Screening Programme.
