The NHS recently celebrated SAS (Specialty and Associate Specialist) Week, highlighting the vital contributions of SAS and LED (Locally Employed Doctors) doctors. These professionals have been integral to the clinical service provision and the daily operations of numerous surgical sub-specialities. Their expertise and dedication form the backbone of the healthcare system, ensuring the smooth functioning of essential services, and their pivotal role is expected to remain a cornerstone of the NHS's success in the foreseeable future.
This is one of the webinar series organised by Moynihan Academy, and we are truly grateful to have two distinguished speakers - Mr Lasitha B Samarakoon (Consultant [LE] General Surgeon and Member SASLED Committee RCSEd) and Mr Majid Mukadam (Associate Specialist Cardiothoracic Transplantation, Chair SAS LED Committee and Council Member of RCSEd) to speak about their journey in their respective career and highlighting the alternate career pathways opportunities available for SAS and LED doctors.
