This webinar is the first in a monthly series developed in collaboration with ASGBI and The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh SSB and Trainee Committee. The purpose is to support those preparing for the General Surgery FRCS exam. The focus of this webinar will include a recap of critical conditions in children and a viva-style approach to assessment and management of a child with abdominal pain.

Aims

Enable trainees to recognise and manage common surgical causes of abdominal pain in children

Learning Objectives

By the end of this webinar the participant should be able to recongise acute surgical pathology in children and discuss the appropriate management of the following conditions:

  • Appendicitis
  • Meckels Diverticulum
  • Malrotation
  • Umbilical Hernia
  • and Intussusception.
