Overview

This event gives trainees at all levels the opportunity to attend, present and gain feedback on their QI and Audit work. Further lectures will include a keynote on patient safety and discussion from a Trainee Committee member. We therefore invite trainees to submit their abstracts for consideration for presentation at this event. Topics for submission: General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, Specialties & Common Interest and Patient Safety.

The closing date for abstracts is 23:59 on the 13th of January 2025.

Learning Style

Oral lectures and presentations given by trainees with feedback from session Chairs. Plus poster session with written feedback from poster markers. All presentations (poster and oral) will receive formative feedback.

Aims & Objectives

The aim of this event is to allow trainees the opportunity to present their QI and Audit work through Oral or Poster Presentation. Abstract submissions topics; General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, Specialties & Common Interest, and Patient Safety.

Summary

The 23rd QI and Audit Symposium is dedicated to trainees at all levels of medical profession, providing them the platform to present their QI and Audit work. Participants will receive feedback from session Chairs and will have the opportunity to attend lectures, including a keynote on patient safety and the Mckeown Medal lecture. Topics of interest include General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, Specialties & Common Interest and Patient Safety. Course fees range from £68 to £130 depending on membership and student status.

Learning objectives

1. To understand and apply the principles of Quality Improvement (QI) and Audit within healthcare settings and specifically within the context of General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, Specialties & Common Interest and Patient Safety. 2. To gain competence in presenting QI and Audit work both orally and in written format to peers, senior clinicians, and other stakeholders in a professional symposium environment. 3. To develop and enhance critical review and feedback skills by participating in discussions and providing feedback on presented QI and Audit projects. 4. To recognize and appreciate the importance and relevance of patient safety in the context of QI and Audit, gaining insights from a keynote speaker and actively incorporating these insights into one's own practice. 5. To network with fellow trainees, senior clinicians and other healthcare professionals from various disciplines, fostering collaborative relationships for future QI and Audit work.
