Description

This event will consist of students' oral and poster presentations plus an invited Keynote Speaker’s talk. All presenters will be given formative feedback from the Oral and Poster Judging Faculty. There is ample opportunity for students to informally network with surgical Consultants, SAS, Trainees and peers studying across Wales. Refreshments will be provided and the event will conclude with prize giving and a free Networking drinks reception.

This event will take place at The Margam Park Orangery, Port Talbot, SA13 2TJ.

There is ample parking at the venue, and a free bus will be provided from Cardiff (UHW, front of Dental School) to the Orangery and return. Bookings can be made via the CUSS team.

Attendance to this event is free, however pre-registration is essential. Please note this is an in-person event only.

Students do not need to have a poster / oral presentation to attend, network, and learn!). Surgical trainees, SAS and consultants in Wales are invited to attend and may also register as Poster Judging Faculty.

Summary

Medical and dental students in Wales are invited to submit abstracts, on any topic relating broadly to dentistry or surgery (science, education, clinical, QI … any topic with a surgical slant, including case reports!). Abstract submission Information: 300 words limit. Posters will be A3 portrait orientation. DEADLINE EXTENDED.

Student attendees to assimilate skills of abstract writing, oral or poster creation then discussing and defending your oral or poster with a member of Judging Faculty to receive formative feedback. Additionally students and trainees can network with peers and senior colleagues to learn more about pursuing a surgical career in Wales.

Learning objectives

Student oral and poster presentations about their completed projects. Ample time is allotted for audience Q&A with each presenter. A keynote speaker address and informal networking is also included for those students wishing to learn more about a career in surgery.
