The LNC has agreed something called core SPA which is 1 PA. This seems to be trumping the current contract in out local trust. Am I correct in thinking that 1.5 SPA is stipulated in the consultant contract?

What are the options available to a consultant if an employing organisation only allows 1 SPA a week on a 10PA job plan. Also what are the implications for job planning if a colleague needs extra time to do the work needed if they have a neurodiversity condition. Are there any enforcible routes that can be employed if the organisation fails to implement these changes.

Our Trust Management seems to be increasingly trying to erode flexible time and they are trying to enforce surgeons to do admin / SPA time etc on site in the Hospital, where it is fixed onto the job plan timetable. I can easily do this work via a VPN working remotely from my laptop at home. It may be something I can do in the evening or even time shifted elsewhere. How would you advise consultants to handle this scenario?

Do you have any recommendations on how to best negotiate Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) time to ensure it reflects their non-clinical responsibilities fairly?
