The lack of a transition period from European medical student to becoming a junior doctor led to the creation of EMGA. A society established by alumni of European universities, who shared common experiences and aspired to the same goals for the advancement of their medical career. There is a shortfall of preparation to enter the healthcare system of the destination country, resulting in low confidence and different standards of competition. Addressing these issues became a priority to support and provide for future generations of junior doctors.
