Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection often presents with a sore throat, fatigue, and fever. The histiocytes seen in this patient's lymph nodes on biopsy, characterized by the 'owl's eye' appearance of their nuclei, are associated with EBV infection. EBV is a common cause of infectious mononucleosis.

Cytomegalovirus can indeed cause mononucleosis-like syndrome but typically in immunocompromised individuals. Moreover, typical nuclear inclusions ('owl's eyes') are not seen.

Acute HIV infection can present with mononucleosis-like symptoms, but the histological profile would not show the owl's eye appearance observed in this case. HIV infection typically causes diffuse lymphadenopathy without unique microscopic features.

Mycobacterium Tuberculosis would cause granulomas in the lymph nodes, not the mixed infiltrate seen in this case.
