Bronchiectasis in tuberculosis usually occurs as a late sequela of poorly treated or severe disease. It is less likely in a patient this young without mention of risk factors for tuberculosis.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder characterized by recurring respiratory tract infections, malabsorption, and male infertility. Respiratory symptoms develop in infancy or early childhood and are related to the effects of viscous secretions. Bronchiectasis, which is often seen in the setting of recurrent bacterial infections, is a common finding.

Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by hyperreactive airways, but it does not typically cause bronchiectasis.

Chronic bronchitis leads to airway obstruction and respiratory infection. However, it is typically seen in older smokers, not in young, otherwise healthy women.
