This condition causes symptoms of hyperthyroidism (such as weight loss, heat intolerance, palpitations), not hypothyroidism. It is also associated with positive TSH receptor antibodies rather than anti-TPO antibodies.

This typically presents as a single thyroid nodule, not as diffuse goiter. It often doesn't cause hypothyroidism as it can independently produce thyroid hormones (T3 and T4).

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks the thyroid gland, causing inflammation and destruction of thyroid tissue leading to hypothyroidism. It is the most common cause of hypothroidism. The patient's symptoms, such as weight gain, fatigue, cold intolerance, and constipation, are classic for hypothyroidism. Having elevated TSH and low T3 and T4 indicates primary hypothyroidism. Furthermore, positive anti-TPO antibodies are characteristic of this disease.

Pituitary adenoma more often leads to hyperthyroidism due to an oversecretion of TSH, and anti-TPO antibodies are not usually positive in pituitary adenoma.
