Mr Amr is a Consultant Bariatric surgeon. He has completed advanced Bariatric fellowship program at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton after completing his higher surgical specialty training at the Southwest Peninsula deanery, UK. He successfully completed his surgical training in Egypt before moving to the UK. He has been awarded MSc degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt. He has been awarded MD from Plymouth University and holds a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has a special interest in benign Upper gastrointestinal diseases, bariatric surgery and a particular interest in abdominal wall hernia surgery.
Mr Amr has a genuine passion for teaching and training, and he currently holds an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. He is a faculty member on number of national and international courses including the Royal College of Surgeons Basic Surgical Skills and the Care of Critically Ill Surgical Patients (CCrISP). He is also an international faculty on the ATLS courses for providers and instructors. He is an examiner for MBBS program at Newcastle Medical School.
Outside work, he is a keen runner and has run a few half marathons and marathons raising money for Operation Hernia and other Local charities in Plymouth, UK.
