What is ICE? Ideas, concerns, and expectationsHow would YOU phrase ICE to a patient? You will now be put into breakout rooms where one of you will be asked to take a history from one of us. This will take 10 minutes. Roleplay ;) Don’t worry, this is a great chance to practise and gain feedback. You will be doing this all the time in third year and onwards!Top Tips for History Taking 1. BE CONFIDENT – FAKE IT ‘TIL YOU MAKE IT 2. SMILE! Politeness goes a long way and it makes the patient feel at ease with you 3. Show interest in the patient’s life – they’re not just for machines that churn out histories 4. Make sure to ask open and closed questions 5. EMPATHY!!! This shows that you actually care about what they are saying 6. Watch your body language (even on Zoom) 7.
